Indexer Machining is like lathe work but a much slower process. The spindle does the cutting and because it rotates so slowly spiral cutting and carving can be done in the round.

These two raw legs were machined on an indexer, both the square top and the turned tapper leg section were machined together. The only difference between the two is one has a spiral machined up the tapper the other vertical grooves.
